Despite all the ups and downs in life, there is something more permanent and constant that gives direction, meaning, and value to life. According to Dr. Piedmont of the Loyola University, there are three aspects to spiritual wellbeing: a) a feeling of joy and contentment the comes from connecting with the God or spirit of our understanding, b) a sense that life is intimately tied together and c) that we are part of a larger human reality that cuts across generations and groups (based on work by Ralph L. Piedmont, Ph.D. on spiritual transcendence)
