If you are like many business owners, you are great at working hard, juggling many balls at the same time and working long hours with a huge goal in mind. But if I make it sound so easy, please understand that it wasn’t always like that for me...
In fact, if I’ve touched you with my words, it’s because I have been just where you are today. I have witnessed for almost 40 years how entrepreneurial stress, endless hours, and a life built around work can painfully affect an entire family.
But I am jumping ahead. Let me tell you my story:
My earliest childhood memories were about seeing my dad stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated and unfulfilled by his business. Early on, that taught me to think that financial success meant living with high levels of stress at work and at home. I learned a lot about running a business from my father. But I lived in a home where pent-up frustration from working long hours was often expressed in unpleasant ways. I grew up promising myself that I would never live like that, that the price of success was too big. I thought that business success required endless hours, hard work, high levels of stress, and always accommodating the needs of the business with no time for oneself, family or friends.
Years later, I was creating my own business with the intention of not repeating old patterns. But I only had the same old tools to work with: long hours and hard work. I decided I needed to make some major life changes. For a while I was so discouraged by the challenges of entrepreneurship that I took a job—a very stable, safe and comfortable job.
Still, the entrepreneurial spirit kept tugging at my heart. When extreme life changes forced me to look at the rest of my life, I knew that I didn’t want to work for anybody but myself. I would do whatever it took to figure out how to create a thriving business and, at the same time, create a thriving life. And so I set out to find the solution to creating a successful business, dream big, really big, setting high financial goals and still have balance in my life.
Over time, I did a lot of research and discovered some amazing techniques and tools that I had never heard about before. I have implemented them in my own business and life and they WORK! I learned that my business success depended on who I was becoming as a person. After lots of work on growing into a person who could truly be a small business leader, a High Impact leader, I realized I had cracked the code. Today, I just love my days at work. I love having time to go on hikes, be with my friends and support my two girls emotionally and financially. I attract clients easily and love my relationship with them. I have a fabulous staff and I know that they give me their very best every day. My children don’t pay the price of my business success. On the contrary, I hope that they see me as their role model. I hope that I can inspire them to become mindful, powerful, prosperous and joyful entrepreneurs themselves one day.
For right now though, I am concentrating all of my efforts on teaching this system to small business owners such as designers, photographers, consultants, developers, trainers, brokers, speakers and retail business owners.
